NAR Code of Ethics
Click to learn more about the National Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics and Professional Standards.
For many years, Texas was able to use the TREC Ethics (Legal II) class as an equivalent for the NAR Code of Ethics requirement. With the changes adopted by the NAR Board of Directors in November 2019, Texas members will not be able to use that equivalent to satisfy the NAR Code of Ethics training requirement effective January 1, 2020.
What This Means for Your Members
- Members who completed the TREC Legal II course training during 2019, will be able to use that to satisfy their NAR Code of Ethics requirement for the current cycle.
- Members who did not take a Code of Ethics or equivalent course (such as Legal II) during 2019 will be required to take Code of Ethics training within 30 days of completing New Member Orientation.
- After this current cycle ends, all members must take board or association-approved Code of Ethics training every three years.
How Can Members Satisfy This Requirement?
The following courses or equivalencies will satisfy the Code of Ethics training requirement:
- NAR-approved online courses | https://www.nar.realtor/about-nar/governing-documents/code-of-ethics/code-of-ethics-training
You will need your NRDS # to use when logging into NAR. This will also ensure you are given credit for completing this course.
Once finished/completed, please provide me with proof to ensure your NRDS record is updated with the date of completion.
If any of you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Denise Huber at 817-326-2530.
