Welcome new Members!
The August luncheon is usually dedicated to the TREPAC “Experience Auction”. And WHAT an Auction it was! I would like to thank those who made it fun, exciting, and successful:
Our MC – Lisamarie Mercer, the illustrious auctioneer – Steve Berry and the bid “spotters” – Brent Northcutt, Kevin Watson and Bret Deason.
The excitement grew to such a feverish pitch – that 3 additional items were added to the Live Auction! I want to thank two gentlemen who doubled their donation(s) on 1 – 2 occasions to allow more Members to participate and increase the overall success of the Auction – Kevin Knapp & Morris Duree.
Now let’s get to the Auction Results. GAR raised more than $29,000 for TREPAC! That is amazing.
I want to thank EVERYONE who donated items for the auction and those who bid on and won the items.

Denise Huber, Association Executive, began the session with a “welcome” and introductions. Each Agent introduced themself, the Agency they work with and why they became a REALTOR® and/or how they “got to Granbury”.
Matthew and Jessica Watson, with Watson Building Inspection, provided breakfast for the new Members. Matthew created a power point presentation outlining his services. The Power Point was not only informative but very impressive. Both Matthew and Jessica did a great job of providing an overview of the services that Watson Building Inspection can and will provide to new and tenured Members and their clients.
Denise reviewed GAR’s Website, the location of pertinent Membership information, Directories, Education/classes, SAE requirements, NAR COE requirements and available courses, Lunch/After Hours Tours, Bylaws, Policies & Procedures, and Calendar/Event Information. She also briefly explained and summarized the various committees that Members can join and encouraged the new members to “get involved”.
Denise provided an overview of MLS/NTRIS Rules and Regulations. A thorough explanation of the Clear Cooperation Rule that went into effect on May 1, 2020 – was reviewed and discussed. Also, the change in rules regarding the Coming Soon status and sharing other Agent’s Listing information on Social Media. Denise also reviewed the new MLS Compliance & Enforcement of Rules and explained “Data Checker”.
Brent and Madison Northcutt, with Northcutt Farmers Insurance, provided lunch for the Agents. Both Brent and Madison were very thorough in explaining all the products available to the Agents and their clients – E & O, General Liability, Worker’s Comp, Home, Auto and Umbrella coverages. They also explained that Farmers Insurance provides investment opportunities. Overall, the presentation was highly informative and well received. Brent also had his drone with him – demonstrating the importance of documenting a property – both inside and out – to ensure adequate coverage. The drone was caught in the impending storm but made it out intact. 😊
Denise shared the importance of TREPAC, the benefits to REALTORS® and how to invest. She explained the “Fair Share” investment and encouraged new members to get involved by serving on the TREPAC Committee and/or attending the fundraising events. She also went through the “TREPAC Calculator” of savings and showed the agents how much money TREPAC saves them on an annual basis.
The Orientation concluded with a “thank you” to all attendees for their time and attention during New Member Orientation. Two (2) Board Members: Kathy Cheek/Secretary Treasurer; and Erienne Higgins /Director, attended to introduce themselves to the New Members and provide a summary of their job responsibilities as Members of the GAR Board. They also stressed the importance of getting involved with the Association and serving on 1 of the 11 Committees.
Welcome New Members! We are glad to have you as a part of the Granbury Association of REALTORS®!
