GAR was honored by the Texas Association of Realtors and the Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee for earning two awards in 2020:

1) Participation Award – Category 4 – 2nd Place
2) Quota Award – Category 4 – 2nd Place

This is a significant achievement as GAR is considered a “small” association and was competing against Associations much, much larger.
GAR was recognized in February; however, we just received these beautiful plaques and both are proudly displayed in the GAR Office.

On Wednesday, April 7th, GAR conducted its second New Member Orientation in 2021. There were 16 New/Tenured REALTORS® who attended and joined the Association:

Denise Huber, Association Executive, began the session with a “welcome” and introductions. Each Agent introduced themselves, the Agency they work with and why they became a REALTOR® and/or how they “got to Granbury”.

Jennifer Rankey and Caitlynn Sabin, with Central Texas Title (CTT) provided breakfast for the new Members. Jennifer did an excellent job of providing an overview of the services that CTT can and will provide to new and tenured Members and their clients. The Agents asked a lot of great questions and Jennifer was truly knowledgeable and helpful in her responses.

Denise reviewed GAR’s Website, the location of pertinent Membership information, Directories, Education/classes, SAE requirements, NAR COE requirements and available courses, Wednesday Lunch Tours, Bylaws, Policies & Procedures, and Calendar/Event Information. She also briefly explained and summarized the various committees that Members can join.

Felicia Peters, with Peerless Realty Group, and GAR’s 2019 Past President, provided an overview of MLS/NTRIS Rules and Regulations. A thorough explanation of the new Clear Cooperation rule that went into effect on May 1, 2020 – was reviewed and discussed. Also, the change in rules regarding the Coming Soon status. Denise also reviewed the new MLS Compliance & Enforcement of Rules.

Thomas Healey, with Old Republic Home Protection, provided lunch for the Agents. Thomas provided a very thorough overview and explanation of the services that Old Republic provides. He walked the Members through various scenarios and explained exactly how the process works – from the selection of vendors to the completion of the repair/replacement. This prompted numerous questions from the Members. Overall, the presentation was highly informative and helpful.

Denise shared the importance of TREPAC, the benefits to REALTORS® and how to invest. She explained the “Fair Share” investment and encouraged new members to get involved by serving on the TREPAC Committee or attending the events. Denise invited all Members to attend the first TREPAC Fundraiser on Friday, April 16th @ Warren’s Backyard from 5pm – 8pm. She also went through the “TREPAC Calculator” of savings and showed the agents how much money TREPAC saves them on an annual basis.

The Orientation concluded with a “thank you” to all attendees for their time and attention during New Member Orientation. Several Board Members, Jerry Allen, President; Kathy Cheek, Sec/Treas; Lee Overstreet, TR Director and Directors Kevin Watson and Whitney Knieper, attended to introduce themselves to the New Members and provide a summary of their job responsibilities as Members of the GAR Board and the importance of getting involved with the Association and serving on 1 of the 12 Committees.

GAR held its 2nd Membership Luncheon in 2021 on Tuesday, April 6th at the GAR Office. The luncheon was catered by DeCordova and the food was FABULOUS! Approximately 50 Realtor & Affiliate Members attended. GAR’s 2021 President, Jerry Allen, welcomed everyone. He began with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Jerry then thanked the Sponsors: BPG Inspections/Bryan Oglesby; Old Republic Home Protection/Thomas Healey & ProCo Rooting & Construction/Tareah Viselli.

2 of the Sponsors provided door prizes. And the winners are:
