GAR - New Member Orientation - July 1, 2020
Denise Huber, Association Executive, began the day with a “welcome” and introductions. Each Agent introduced themselves, the Brokerage they work with and why they became a REALTOR® and/or how they “got to Granbury”.
Beth Luton and Jeanne Elam with Porter Title, provided “sack” breakfasts for the new members. Beth and Jeanne did an excellent job of providing an overview of the services Porter Title can and will provide to new and tenured Members and their clients. The Agents asked a lot of great questions and the Porter Title Representatives were very knowledgeable and helpful in their responses.
The Orientation was conducted by Denise. The New Members reviewed GAR’s Website, the location of pertinent Membership information, Directories, Education/classes, SAE requirements and available courses, Wednesday Lunch Tours, Bylaws, Policies and Procedures and Calendar/Event Information. Committee involvement was discussed and a brief summary was provided of all 12 Committees that Members can become involved in – within the Association.
Felicia Peters, with Peerless Realty Group, and GAR’s 2019 Past President, provided an overview of MLS/NTREIS Rules and Regulations.
First Financial Bank, provided a wonderful “boxed” Lunch for the Attendees. Kara Watson and Jennifer LeBlanc were very thorough in discussing the services that First Financial can provide. They also shared many “dos and don’ts” for the REALTORS® and tips to better serve their clients. The agents had many, questions and the feedback received was that the information was very helpful.
Denise, shared the importance of TREPAC, the benefits to REALTORS® and how to invest. She explained the “Fair Share” investment and encouraged new members to get involved by serving on the TREPAC Committee or attending the events. Denise summarized the annual fundraising events and encouraged new Members to attend the “Experience Auction” to be conducted during the Membership Luncheon scheduled on August 4th @ De Cordova Country Club.
The NAR Ethics training requirement was reviewed and a few new members were reminded that the training must be completed within the next 2 weeks. A link and instructions were provided, as applicable.
The New Members watched several videos which included TREC Advertising Rules and Code of Conduct, both included a test, Membership benefits with NAR and REALTOR® Safety.
