GAR held its third Membership Luncheon of 2022 – our 50th Anniversary Year – on Tuesday, June 7th at the GAR Office. We are so fortunate to have a large room/ facility to hold/host the luncheons as DeCordova completes its renovation. Hopefully, we will be back at DeCordova in its “new” facility in August. It’s getting close!!

The luncheon was catered by Chef Jordan with DeCordova, and the food was wonderful – as always! Especially, the tiramisu cheesecake!

Approximately 60 Members gathered to network and enjoy the luncheon. GAR’s 2022 President, Lisamarie Sheck, welcomed everyone. Lisamarie asked Bret Deason, Texas Classic Insurance, to offer the invocation and lead the Pledge of Allegiance. We even gave the Texas pledge. We need to work on that – a little. Lisamarie then thanked the Sponsors: Extra Comforts / Tammy Quisenberry; House to Home Inspections / Joey & Charlotte Kuykendall; and Service First Mortgage / Donna Dunning, Rachel Crider & Billy Mays.

Each sponsor provided lots of flyers, business cards and goodies at each place setting – as well as door prizes.

Extra Comforts: A “Zen” Gift Basket
Whitney Knieper – Knieper Team Real Estate

House to Home Inspections: Patriotic Gift Basket
Jane Johnson – Keller Williams Brazos West

2 Gift Bags
Kevin Watson
Kathy Cheek

Service First Mortgage: 4th of July Gift Basket
Jessica Kirksey – Keller Williams Brazos West

$100 Gift Card
Hayden Hall – Knieper Team Real Estate

Congrats to all winners! And THANK YOU to our Sponsors!

Lisamarie welcomed new realtor and affiliate Members:

Hayden Hall – Knieper Team Real Estate

Welcome Hayden!

Announcements were made by:

Public Relations Committee – Chair Kathy Cheek – Blessing Bags for residents of Quail Park – were distributed at the end of May. Kathy thanked those who donated to this endeavor and those Committee Members who helped distribute the bags. She also announced that the next initiative would be “shoes for school”. GAR will be working in conjunction with Rancho Brazos Community Center to supply shoes for kids going back to school.

TREPAC Committee – Chair Whitney Knieper – Whitney announced that the final fundraiser of this TREPAC Year will be the “Experience Auction” to be held during the Membership Luncheon in August – August 2nd. Hopefully, to be held at De Cordova.

Guest Speaker: Leigh York

Leigh is a previous Member of GAR. She is now a Member of the Greater Fort Worth Board of Realtors. As an active REALTOR®, Leigh York’s service to the real estate industry has been impactful and extensive. She’s earned the Texas REALTOR® award for Instructor of the Year and has twice been local REALTOR® of the Year. She has Chaired NAR’s Small Board Leadership Forum, Professional Standards Committee and the PS Interpretations Procedures and Advisory Board. She’s been at the table for national Diversity, Equity and Inclusion policy discussions.

Leigh’s presentation on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion was very insightful and poignant. Several members shared very positive feedback after the luncheon.

Residents of Quail Park – Blessings Abound as Blessing Bags are Distributed

The Public Relations Committee distributed 81 Blessings Bags to the residents of Quail Park.
There were approximately 54 women and 27 men (the number includes 17 residents in the Memory Care Unit) who received the Blessing Bag goodies. And what a “blessing” it was.
The bags were filled with toothpaste & a toothbrush; jigsaw puzzles; body wash; word search puzzles; small Kleenex packs; gripper socks; colored markers; a small throw; pencils and crayons and coloring books for the Memory Care Residents.
A special “Thank You” to our wonderful and generous Members who supported this initiative:
Beth Shearon Kevin Watson
Tracy Robinson Kay Bailey
Donna Dunning Jill Fochesato
Jane Mouhot Joni Dawson
Ann Blessing Vickie Davies
Kim Pendry Jane Johnson
Whitney Knieper Bill Vineyard
Pam Knieper Koweba Sprinkle
Elia Garces Jacque Gordon
Renee Gallagher Tammy Quisenberry
Town Square Title Terri Harmon
Robin Pearson
All Committee Members, who assisted in distributing the bags were “moved” by the residents who greeted them at their door. The beautiful stories, pictures, artwork and momentous that were displayed and shared by several will be remembered. Such a great initiative and one that meant a lot to many.
