The Public Relations Committee has chosen “Senior Blessing Bags” as one of its Community Projects for 2023.
The Committee is asking for donations from GAR Members to assist with the cost of filling these blessing bags.
To-date, there are 50 full time & 11 short term residents @Harbor Lakes Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility
The Blessing Bags will be filled with the following items:

Body Wash
Lotion
Shampoo/Conditioner
Smell Good Toiletries
Games
Adult Coloring Books (Children's coloring books are great also)
Sketch Pads
Colored Pencils
Spiral Notebooks

Mechanical Pencils

Denise Huber, Association Executive, began the session with a “welcome” and introductions. Each Agent introduced themself, the Agency they work with and why they became a REALTOR® and/or how they “got to Granbury”.
Mandy Pruett, Terri Harmon and Carey Norton, with Town Square Title, provided breakfast for the new Members. Terri and Carey “kicked off” the morning by providing an overview of the services that Town Square Title can and will provide to new and tenured Members and their clients. Terri and Carey also touched briefly on the App Town Square provides to clients (which is free) and advised that calculators are provided in the app for both Buyers & Sellers. Town Square provided 2 Gift Cards and a “goodie bag”. And the winners were……………

Terri Harmon conducted an “ice breaker” – just to see how much the new members knew about Texas. Example: State food, bird, flower, etc. I think everyone in the room has some studying to do; however, we now all know the definition of a true “cowboy”!
Denise reviewed GAR’s Website, the location of pertinent Membership information, Directories, Education/classes, SAE requirements, NAR COE requirements and available courses, Lunch/After Hours Tours, Bylaws, Policies & Procedures, and Calendar/Event Information. She also briefly explained and summarized the various committees that Members can join and encouraged the new members to “get involved”.
Denise provided an overview of MLS/NTREIS Rules and Regulations. A thorough discussion/review was had regarding the verbiage you can and cannot use in MLS regarding commission(s). Also, the change in rules regarding Clear Cooperation, the Coming Soon status and sharing other Agent’s Listing information on Social Media. Denise also reviewed the MLS Compliance & Enforcement of Rules and explained “Data Checker”. Lisa Deaver conducted an overview of MLS and provided valuable insight in how to use the application efficiently and effectively. She also shared that she conducted monthly MLS Basic and MLS advanced classes – free of charge to Members and office Staff.
Erin Bassett and Stephanie Davis, with Academy Mortgage, provided lunch for the Agents. Both Erin and Stephanie were very thorough in explaining various products and programs available to the Agents and their clients. Overall, the presentation was highly informative and well received. Stephanie also stressed the importance of reminding clients to consider using their tax refund towards closing costs.
Two Board Members attended to introduce themself, explain their duties on the Board and to stress the importance of getting involved and serving on one of the 11 GAR Committees. Those who attended were: Erienne Higgins and Erin Drummer – Director(s).
A new feature was added to the NMO. Attorney Steve Reid conducted a Title Commitment Review. Tenured Agents received 1 hour CE credit for attending the session. The information was invaluable to the new and tenured agents and will be a session that is added to all NMO – going forward.
The Orientation concluded with a “thank you” to all attendees for their time and attention during New Member Orientation. Welcome New Members! We are glad to have you as a part of the Granbury Association of REALTORS®!
